World Mental Health Day 2020 – Thank You!
Thursday 22nd October, 2020
Becky here. Hope you’re doing ok, and that the weather wherever you are is much better than it is on my croft in Dalnabreck, (where I currently work from home)!
This is just a quick blog post, to thank every who got involved and supported us on World Mental Health day last week, and to share some of the highlights, and fantastic photos we were sent on social media throughout the day.
The Ewen’s Room team decided as a way to mark such an important day and raise awareness locally, to wear something yellow, and post it to social media.
Here you can see our trustees and Ewen’s Room founders Rosie and Malcolm Gillespie, getting into the spirit of things! As are Justine, our Education Officer, and Nic, our team member and volunteer below…
But it wasn’t just the Ewen’s Room team wearing yellow to raise awareness, we were so pleased to see so many local businesses get involved too! We had Gamoran Square – local luxury holiday cottages, Cafe Tioram, Mingarry Park Hotel, all wear yellow to support the cause, along with the Highland Cinema in Fort William, Morrison’s Community team, and local Acharacle craft shop Artisan also doing their bit to support us. Here are some of the highlights !
Susan and Becky at Gamoran Square, after a busy day of changeovers!
Nic, Emma and Angus at Mingarry Park Hotel took time out of a busy evening serving their delicious food to take this picture to help us spread the word!
Joanne at Artisan generously donated 10% of her sales at the store on World Mental Health Day. Thank you Joanne!
Morrison’s in Fort William, including our flyers on their noticeboard and delivered them with every shopping delivery in the area.
Newly opened Highland Cinema in Fort William kindly featured us on their billboard for the entire day, to help raise awareness.
It was so lovely to see so many local businesses come together to support us and spread the word about this important day, and all of the help available locally to those struggling. We feel very lucky to be part of such a supportive and connected community :).
Have a lovely evening!
I thought it would be a good idea to focus on anxiety during this week’s blog article, and talk about the 10 lesser kn…
